Tuscan Travellers - Tuscany and Italy Driving Guide Tours Half Day Fiesole tour

Fiesole and Medici Villas Half Day Tour

Duration: 4 hours. Every day.

Fiesole was the first town built in the Florence area. Since Etruscan times this town has been dominating Florence from the hills. The roman theatre is still used for some shows. Also have a chance to visit the beautiful Medici Villas

Highlights:

- An easy break from Florence crowds

- See the Roman amphitheatre

- Visit Medici Villas

Our driver guide will take you to the hills of Florence, the first stop will be in Fiesole, from where you can get a breathtaking view of Florence. Fiesole is a city built in the 5th century B.C. by the Etruscans and later became the main Roman town of the area. Here you can still see a Roman Theatre and other museums.

Later we will go to “Castello” an area north of Florence where we can visit two of the many Medici Villas around Florence. These beautiful Renaissance Villas were commissioned by the members of the Medici family. The gardens are fundamental elements of the villa, as is evident in the Medici complex of Castello. Vommissioned by Cosimo I from Niccolò Tribolo, who designed it on the basis of the canons and descriptions of Leon Battista Alberti, and considered by Vasari as one of the "richest gardens in Europe".
