The spotlight will be on Hellenistic bronze sculptures

-->

From March 14 until June 21, 2015, Florence's Palazzo Strozzi will host an extraordinary exhibition dedicated to Hellenistic sculpture.

Power and Pathos: Bronzes from the Hellenistic World showcases the development of art during the Hellenistic age, which spread throughout all of the Mediterranean and beyond between the fourth and the first centuries. It was during this period that art took on new forms of emotional expression and composition; the trends and techniques characteristic of the period represent an early form of globalization.

Power and pathos will bring together some of the most outstanding masterpieces of the ancient world, coming from the major Italian and international archaeological museums, such as the National Archaeology Museum of Florence, the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Archaeology Museum of Naples, the British Museum of London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Uffizi in Florence, the Athens Archaeology Museum, the Kunsthistoriches Museum in Vienna, the Louvre in Paris, and the Vatican Museums.
